re: Consumables, Part 2: Crafting for the Level 95 Champion

0

Hey everybody!

As I said in my previous guide, we will be taking a look at class consumables one-at-a-time, starting with those classes which represent the largest amount of kin members.  That means champs are up first.  Let me first state that I don't really play a champ (my level 38 champ gained almost all of his xp by cooking).  I do however love playing with a good champ, and we have many good champs in this kin.  One champ, in particular, is downright "badaxe."  Champs are great because they put out a lot of damage and they tend not to die right away when they pull aggro off the tank, unless you are Capto's champ and you have crap-for-virtues.  Just kidding, Capto, you know I love you.  Because champs are melee specialists, they tend not to wander out of healing range, or mess up the tanks strategic positioning.  So, yeah, champs are great.  So what do champs need?  How can you crafters out there help champs prepare for battle?

So Champs need all the things mentioned in my first guide.  For food, champs prefer might food, or better yet level 85 might plus vitality food.  But Champs have 2 class-specific consumables as well.

Champion Horns

New to Helm's Deep champion horns are now consumable.  Horns give the champ a 5 second stun, which can be a good way to protect yourself (and the nearby tank) while the healer gets off a big heal.  Woodworkers make these.  The best are superior walnut horns, which are not the critical version of walnut horns, but a separate recipe all together.  The item does have a 15 minute cooldown, so it's not as though Champions need to carry around huge stacks of them.  5 horns would probably be more than enough for even the longest of raids.

Fervour Potions

The other class-specific consumable for champs are fervour potions.  Fervour is the champions pip system.  Champions build up fervour by using some skills, and spend fervour to use other skills (just like hunters with focus). The Westemnet Potion of Fervour instantly fills the champs fervour bar and has the added bonus of increasing his devastate magnitude by 40% for 30s (increasing the champs extra damage on critical hits).  Hunters have a reputation for really popping back focus potions, I don't know if champs are really quite as thirsty, but it looks to me like this would be quite useful.  Like all potions, these are crafted by scholars.

How can you help?

This week, I would love it if crafters would focus on helping out our kins champions and put some of these items up on kin auction.  I'm looking for volunteers to make might food, fervour pots and horns.  I'm also looking for volunteers to gather t9 wood and scholar mats.  If you send walnut and tattered rohirric parchment I will craft some of the items myself and distribute the other mats to volunteers.

Next up: Hunters

Probably the neediest bunch out there.  Seriously, hunters need a lot of stuff.
